A Brighter Future in Sight

The Carman Lay Foundation’s first “Swirl for a Girl” was a smashing success, raising more than $27,000 to fund programs that benefit students at The Maryland School for the Blind. “Swirl for a Girl” featured music by the Generation Gap Jazz Band, wine-tasting with wines provided by the Wine Source of Hamden, scrumptious food and desserts, and a silent auction offering exciting items such as hot air balloon rides, resort vacation stays at the beach and in ski country, a New York City travel package, one-of-a-kind artwork and jewelry, and much more. The nearly two hundred “Swirl” attendees spent the evening mingling, bidding, dancing, drinking and dining, all while toasting the memory of Carman Lay and her impact on how families, educators, and the community can help children with special needs achieve their dreams.
